GAIA Vaccine Foundation’s mission is to reduce the incidence of infectious diseases that disproportionately affect the underserved and promote the development of globally relevant, globally accessible vaccines that can be distributed on a not-for-profit basis in the developing world. All of GAIA’s programs are focused on Education, Prevention, Access to care, and Vaccination.
Our current programs in Bamako, Mali include:
- Lifelong care of people living with HIV/AIDS
- Mother to child HIV transmission prevention
- Free HIV testing and treatment
- Adolescent peer education for reproductive health
- Nutrition and peer support program for people living with HIV/AIDS
- Cervical cancer screening and HPV vaccination.
- Clinical and social public health research programs
JOB POSTING
The Director will work with GAIA’s founder, one Providence-based staff member, and 2-3 student volunteers to manage administrative duties that include organizational development, financial management, and communications. The Director will communicate closely with one Mali-based staff member to supervise on-going programs and grant-specific research initiatives in Bamako, Mali. The Director will report to GAIA’s Board of Directors.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Commitment to global development and community health.
- Aptitude to lead, inspire and manage a diverse staff and Board of Directors in the US and Mali.
- Capacity to work independently, set goals, self-monitor and ensure outcomes.
- Proficient French language skills (written and spoken).
- Strong writing experience and interest in learning writing skills for grant proposals, program reports and scientific articles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective planning, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- QuickBooks accounting software (or related accounting experience) is a plus.
- BA in community/public health, or related field is a plus.
