VolunteerMatch – Finding Opportunities to Give Back!
Service, a word that means different things to different people. As public health professionals, you most likely think of service as giving back to your profession and to your community. In our world, that is what service truly means! It is finding time to share our knowledge, passion, and expertise with those around us to help make our professions, our communities, and, ultimately, the world we live in a better place.
Since we all know the value of service, why aren’t we all performing service activities? Is it a lack of time, or is it not knowing where to find opportunities that match our interests? Well, VolunteerMatch can help you find organizations that could use your skills.
What is VolunteerMatch?
VolunteerMatch is an online resource that makes it easy for volunteers and organizations to connect. It is the largest network in the nonprofit world, with the most volunteers, nonprofits and opportunities to make a difference. VolunteerMatch connects inspired people with inspiring causes. It’s how volunteers and nonprofits connect to achieve remarkable outcomes. One of the great thing about VolunteerMatch is that you get matched to organizations in your geographic location!
Here’s how to get started with VolunteerMatch:
- Visit the website – https://www.volunteermatch.org/
- Sign up by following the few instructions. At this stage, you enter your location and cause/s to get matched to organizations in your area with causes that match your passion and skills.
- Done – that’s all. Now you will get notifications when a match is made to the information you entered. Each match will contain information about the opportunity – when, where, skills, and requirements. If it is a good match for you, you click the “I want to help” button to connect with the organization.
Now that you know how to find volunteer opportunities aligned to your passion in your physical location, I hope you will take that next step to start making a difference.
