General Responsibilities:
The Community Health Programs Assistant will work directly with the Community Programs Coordinator to supervise and manage the Acompañante program. The program seeks to achieve better outcomes among people living with chronic disease. This includes, but is not limited to, providing continuing education courses, conducting evaluations of Acompañantes, collecting monthly data reports from supervisors, and organizing and analyzing reports for the Coordinator. The Assistant will also have the opportunity and creative freedom to design and develop future community programs, with oversight of the Community Programs Coordinator. The majority of the work will be in the field, traveling each week to various communities. This position is ideal for a candidate with an interest in community health program design and management.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Instruct continuing education courses for Acompañantes in all communities
- Design new lesson plans based on the needs of the Acompañantes and their patients
- Participate in the selection, training, and implementation of the Acompañantes program in new communities
- Collect monthly records from community supervisors and address concerns
- Input and analyze chronic patient data
- Evaluate Acompañante performance through methods such as patient satisfaction interviews and practicums
- Help the Coordinator brainstorm, design, and implement new community programs, with special attention to their planning, logistics, and feasibility
Qualifications:
- Experience and enjoyment in teaching and creating lesson plans
- Exemplary interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and country
- Interest in social justice strongly desirable
- Ability to problem-solve as part of a team and with limited resources
- Proactive and collaborative work style
- Spanish fluency or high proficiency
- Well-developed organizational skills
- Fluency with Excel; interest in learning and mastering new data systems and techniques
- Experience in a low-resource or rural setting or with wilderness activities strongly preferred
