APHA Speak for Health Advocacy Bootcamp – July 15-16, 2019
APHA is proud to offer a new advocacy opportunity for public health students and recent graduates.
This summer, July 15-16, APHA will bring together 200 public health students and early-career professionals in Washington, D.C. for the second annual Speak for Health Advocacy Bootcamp. This two-day, hands-on training will allow attendees to delve into public health policy, gaining confidence and new skills as they learn the basics of how to advocate for public health. On July 16, attendees will take their message and expertise to Capitol Hill for hundreds of in-person meetings with their representatives, senators and congressional staff.
The Speak for Health Advocacy Bootcamp will specifically engage attendees on the challenges climate change poses to the public’s health. Using climate change as a case study, attendees will examine policy solutions and learn to message this issue as public health experts. On July 16, they will use their new skills to educate their elected leaders about APHA’s climate and health advocacy priorities.
The bootcamp is open to APHA members and non-members, but members will receive a significant registration discount.
If you have not already joined APHA, consider doing so now to receive the many benefits of membership!
