Position Title: Program Evaluation Intern

Description of Practicum Project: Data Storytelling – Using Evaluation Outcomes to Demonstrate Program Impact
Tasks: The practicum will provide experience with a Success Story process and format designed to systematically collect and communicate program outcomes to a local, state, and national audience. The student will have the opportunity to synthesize existing quantitative and qualitative evaluation data (including photo documentation) from local communities working to address obesity prevention through direct education and policy, systems, and environmental change interventions. The project will include providing the public health context related to obesity prevention and analyzing statewide tracking system data to communicate program outcomes and share challenges and lessons learned. Some primary data collection (e.g., semi-structured interviews) will be required. This opportunity will expose the student to evidence-based obesity prevention strategies being implemented locally and statewide to address the health and quality of life of Maine’s low-income youth, adults, and seniors.
Requirements: Excellent writing skills and competency with Excel and Word. Interest in obesity prevention.
