Job Title: Public Health Practitioner/Nurse HCP job description final
Location:Southwest PA Environmental Health Project’s office located in McMurray, PA, plus home visits in and around Washington County, PA
Full time: 40 hours per week
Job Summary: The Southwest Pennsylvania Environmental Health Project (EHP) Public Health Practitioner/Nurse is a senior position that will center on designing and implementing public health activities relevant to health and safety near shale gas development. EHP’s model for understanding and addressing the public health consequences of unconventional gas development (UGD, aka fracking) is akin to a public health outbreak investigation. The role of the Public Health Practitioner/Nurse is central to our operation and involves supporting communities’ and health care providers’ understanding of health risks related to shale gas development exposures, by leading EHP’s multi-disciplinary Health and Wellness Team and working with the larger EHP team to conduct public health outreach and education. The Public Health Practitioner/Nurse is also expected to provide key input into the continued development and refinement of the Project. EHP’s team comes from many different professional backgrounds and is focused on assessing public health issues in the Appalachian region and beyond. Together, we explore options for addressing the needs of residents who are concerned that their health may have been affected by nearby UGD. The position allows for creativity and an interest in looking at circumstances from multiple perspectives.
Deadline: Review of applications will begin November 1, 2018. Position will be open until filled.
