Description:
Wishing Well Counseling Center embraces the creative therapies. We have multiple licensed art and play therapists on staff, and other clinicians who have been trained in play therapy and sand tray therapy. These treatment modalities are particularly useful with those who have difficulty expressing themselves verbally or those who feel "stuck" in therapy. Most clients can benefit from these creative treatment approaches, but for those who do not feel comfortable embarking on this path, we also offer more traditional means of therapy.
For the treatment of trauma, we have therapists who are certified in Trauma-Focused CBT, which is a treatment modality used for childreen and teens ages 5-18 who have experienced trauma. In addition, we have therapists trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), which is clinically proven to treat PTSD.
Counseling is a general practice, and counselors (or "therapists") are trained in professional psychology, diagnostic issues, various treatment modalities, and individual, family, and group therapy techniques. Counseling addresses individual functioning as well as how individuals function in relationships. The focus is on emotional, behavioral, work, social, physical health, and school concerns people may face at various stages. Counselors assist their clients in coping with emotional, mental, and physical health issues to improve their overall wellness and sense of well-being. In addition, counselors help their clients resolve crises and other issues, as well as relieve feelings of distress associated with these things.
Counselors at Wishing Well Counseling Center have experience treating a wide range of disorders and populations. They have treated individuals with depression, Bipolar Disorder, other mood disorders, psychotic disorders, eating disorders, identity and gender confusion, anxiety, trauma and stress-related disorders, substance abuse and other addictions, personality disorders, and sexual dysfunctions. The counselors here at WWCC have worked with individuals going through most life transitions, including divorce, marriage, break-ups, adoption, foster care, deaths and other losses, career issues, and transitions to other life stages.
Looking for assistance for more than just yourself? Many of our counselors provide couples/marriage counseling and/or family therapy too.
If you are struggling with substance abuse or know someone who is, we can help! We have therapists on staff who specialize in the treatment of substance use disorders.
