Integrative Learning Experience Information (ILE)

ILE Project Course GPH 751 / GPH 752 / GPH 753
The Integrative Learning Experience (ILE) is the 24-week culmination of the Master in Public Health Program. The ILE comprises two courses to be completed in the final phase of the program:
- The first course is the GPH 744, a 1-credit ILE planning course
- The second course is one of three tracks:
- GPH 751 – Advanced Policy Analysis
- GPH 752 – Advanced Research Methods
- GPH 753 – Advanced Program Evaluation
ILE outcomes include a final paper and an oral presentation. The ILE is a requirement for graduation, therefore, there are no waivers.
ILE Planning GPH 744

Prior to GPH 744 enrollment, students will receive the Getting Ready for GPH 744 survey. Once completed, students will be assigned a Faculty Mentor who aligns with their desired track. The Faculty Mentor will approve the student’s enrollment in GPH 744. Once enrolled in GPH 744, students will work with their Faculty Mentor to develop a proposal for the student’s ILE project course (GPH 751, 752, or 753). The student will complete and submit the appropriate IRB documentation for the proposed ILE project. Upon successful completion of GPH 744, the student will be granted approval to register for the 3-credit ILE project course (GPH 751, 752, or 753). |

ADVANCED POLICY ANALYSIS |
Advanced Policy Analysis offers the opportunity for students to develop and complete their own analysis of a public health issue that intersects with government actions. |
Expectations |
Students will have a solid foundation in policy analysis. |
Requirements |
Students must have an existing policy in mind to analyze. |
ADVANCED RESEARCH METHODS |
Advanced Research Methods offers the opportunity for students to develop and complete their own focused research study. |
Expectations |
Students will have successfully passed GPH 719, Research Methods. |
Requirements |
Students must have access to raw datasets that includes variables at the individual participant level. |
ADVANCED PROGRAM EVALUATION |
Advanced Program Evaluation offers the opportunity for students to collaborate with a public health site to conduct a program evaluation for one of their initiatives. |
Expectations |
Students will have successfully passed GPH 738, Program Planning and Evaluation. |
Requirements |
Students must have approval from the organization at which the program exists. |
