Description: At Heart for Freedom, our vision is simple: to stop human trafficking and sexual exploitation by standing with those most vulnerable, equipping churches and schools, and strengthening our communities through partnership.

At the heart of what we do is a trauma-informed work program that helps survivors take the next step toward healing and independence with career coaching and job placement. Alongside this, we focus on prevention—mentoring the young generations, training churches and childcare providers, and empowering local organizations to recognize and respond.

Together, through awareness, education, and restoration, we believe we can create a future where every life is free, safe, and full of hope.

HearthWell Recovery

Location: Dover,
Country:
Description: Generalist and Specialization Opportunities.

Spring, Summer, or Fall start dates. Traditional or Block.

HearthWell Recovery is a PHP/IOP program providing treatment for individuals experiencing substance use disorders, alcohol addiction, trauma, and co-occurring mental health challenges.

An intern with us would have the opportunity to:

• Co-facilitate and lead recovery groups
• Observe, support, and gradually participate in individual therapy sessions under clinical supervision
• Work with clients with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders
• Participate in treatment team meetings
• Learn clinical documentation and case management
• Receive weekly clinical supervision from our MLADC

We are looking for someone who demonstrates a strong interest in behavioral health, substance use recovery, and supporting individuals with co-occurring mental health disorders. Compassion, personability, and passion about helping others in their recovery journey is important to us.

Because our PHP/IOP setting is highly collaborative, the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with staff and clients is important. Students should be reliable, professional, and able to maintain appropriate boundaries in a clinical environment.

The ideal intern is flexible, open to feedback, and willing to take initiative when engaging in learning opportunities. Creativity, strong interpersonal skills, and a willingness to actively participate in group-based programming will also support success in this placement.

Overall, we value interns who are motivated, engaged, and eager to develop their clinical skills while contributing positively to a recovery-oriented treatment environment.
