Description: Adult Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is a team treatment approach designed to provide comprehensive, community-based psychiatric treatment, rehabilitation, and support to persons with serious and persistent mental illness such as schizophrenia. Among the services ACT teams provide are: case management, initial and ongoing assessments; psychiatric services; employment and housing assistance; family support and education; substance abuse services and other services and supports critical to an individual's ability to live successfully in the community. Persons served by ACT often have co-existing abuse problems, or involvement with the judicial system.

Maine Boys to Men

Description: Maine Boys to Men delivers its eight year old evidence based Reducing Sexism and Violence Program (RSVP) to high school students across the state. RSVP is a high school youth driven program which empowers diverse student leaders to play a central role in reducing dating abuse, sexual assault, harassment, and interpersonal violence. In addition to gaining greater awareness, students learn specific bystander intervention techniques which allow them to safely intervene in potentially harmful situations. RSVP is delivered to a group of 30-40 male and female students during a series of four (3 hour) modules. Two faculty facilitators, one male and one female, also participate to support students during and after the training. Serves 14-18 year old high school students in Maine. Student learning opportunities: Program development, program evaluation, advocacy, community organizing, grant-writing, assessments, community education, group work.

Description: At Maine College of Art & Design, we provide a unique population of emerging artists with mental health care in-house. This is a tight knit, vibrant community which collaborates to support our students' achievement and well-being. Our interns have the opportunity to conduct short-term and ongoing therapy with students, as well as intakes, case management, crisis assessment, and coordination with staff and faculty. There is also freedom for interns to utilize their personal interests and skills in organizing programming events for students, in collaboration with other staff. Interns with an interest in working with LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent populations are encouraged to apply.
