Description: Internship split between two social workers for District and High School. Working with the High School working primarily with students who receive special education services. This position would include learning about IEPs, having the opportunity to provide individual and group counseling for students both with an IEP and students who do not receive special education services. Working with the District social worker would allow the intern to work with students K-12 primarily those who are displaying challenging behaviors, creating behavior plans, working with families, attending IEP meetings, consulting with teachers and BCBA’s, attending CPPC meetings and working with outside providers. Grant writing for programs/services for students who are homeless.

Description: This would be a shared position splitting time at Saccarappa Elementary School working with the regular education social worker doing small groups and restorative work with students and working with the District McKinney veto liaison to support students who are homeless with access to education. Field student would also be part of threat assessment teams and assist with truancy.

Youth Challenge Academy

Description: The Georgia National Guard ChalleNGe Academy, a preventive rather than remedial youth-at-risk program, targets participants who are unemployed, drug-free and law-free high-school dropouts, 16 to 18 years of age. Core components of the program are citizenship, academic excellence (GED attainment), life-coping skills, community service, health and hygiene, job skills training, leadership followership, and physical training.
