Description: Fairwinds Counseling and Consulting, PLLC provides clinical and consulting services to individuals and organizations. Areas of specialty include trauma informed care and evidence based trauma treatment, employee wellbeing and mental health, and mental wellbeing in the workplace. This MSW internship involves providing Employee Assistance Program services to employees of L.L.Bean online and at their corporate locations. EAP services involves providing short term solution focused clinical services to adults and students provide services as part of a small team of clinicians. Students also have the opportunity to engage in macro social work interventions through working in partnership with an organization around issues related to mental health and mental wellbeing and can also choose to work with groups if interested. There is a high degree of supervision and access to consultation with multiple clinical providers. Students will have significant opportunities to develop high quality assessment and treatment planning skills and can utilize a diverse set of clinical interventions to meet client needs. Students work with clients with diverse identities, demographics, and clinical presentations. Past interns have felt prepared to practice in more independent settings following this placement experience.

An ideal internship candidate will have experience in professional or corporate work settings and should be comfortable with independent learning and taking initiative to create desired learning opportunities. Students will have the opportunity to work with clients in person and using a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform. There is significant flexibility which allows for students to craft different types of learning opportunities and students are expected to use their creativity to explore areas of interest. Services are offered between 8-5pm M-F and students have flexibility in scheduling their placement hours within these timeframes.

Description: Long Creek Youth Development Center is a juvenile correctional facility (with an accredited high school) operated by the Maine State Department of Corrections. Long Creek functions as a total educational rehabilitative resource within the state-wide correctional setting. The Center provides care, custody and security for its residents (ages 13-21), holds for court evaluations/diagnostic services, education, physical education and recreation through the A.R. Gould School, volunteer services, social services, worship services, as well as medical services to its juvenile offender population. Description: Maine Boys to Men delivers its eight year old evidence based Reducing Sexism and Violence Program (RSVP) to high school students across the state. RSVP is a high school youth driven program which empowers diverse student leaders to play a central role in reducing dating abuse, sexual assault, harassment, and interpersonal violence. In addition to gaining greater awareness, students learn specific bystander intervention techniques which allow them to safely intervene in potentially harmful situations. RSVP is delivered to a group of 30-40 male and female students during a series of four (3 hour) modules. Two faculty facilitators, one male and one female, also participate to support students during and after the training. Serves 14-18 year old high school students in Maine. Student learning opportunities: Program development, program evaluation, advocacy, community organizing, grant-writing, assessments, community education, group work.
